Strong Blast Rattles Libya’s Misrata Industrial Zone

(MENAFN) A powerful explosion rattled the Skeerat district near the industrial zone of Misrata, approximately 200 kilometers east of Libya’s capital Tripoli, on Sunday, according to Al-Masar TV. Authorities have not yet released an official cause for the blast.

Mohamed Al-Nihoum, spokesperson for Misrata Medical Center, reported that six individuals sustained minor to moderate injuries and were admitted to hospital for treatment.

The blast caused burning shells and shrapnel to fall onto nearby residential neighborhoods, prompting evacuations of the surrounding areas. Ambulances and civil defense teams rapidly responded, while security forces sealed off roads leading to the site to secure the area.

Following the incident, Libya’s National Safety Authority and Misrata Medical Center declared a state of emergency.
