Ukraine Collaborates With International Experts To Develop Barrier-Free Environment Presidential Commissioner

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was stated by Tetiana Lomakina, Advisor – Presidential Commissioner for Barrier-Free Environment, in an interview with Ukrinform.

“We're engaging foreign experts-not for formal consultations, but because Ukraine is becoming part of a broader European space,” she noted.

Lomakina explained that during the development of recommendations on plain language and easy-to-read standards for government institutions, Ukraine worked closely with experts from the European Disability Forum. According to her, their input helped shape a document that not only meets official requirements but also reflects European values and standards.

“And that's just one example. We're deliberately opening our doors to international partners-learning from their experience and aligning our path with theirs. Many countries have already successfully navigated this journey and are ready to share their achievements, as well as warn us of potential pitfalls,” Lomakina added.

As Ukrinform previously reported, a pilot project to create barrier-free routes is being implemented in 15 populated areas, with 800 more communities expressing interest in joining the initiative.
