Youth Minister, Arab Voluntary Union Chief Discuss Strengthening Volunteer Work

Amman, Sept. 1 (Petra) – Youth Minister Raed Adwan met on Monday with Hassan Bu Hazaa, president of the Arab Voluntary Union, to explore ways to enhance cooperation in supporting volunteer work.
During the meeting, Adwan described volunteering as a high societal value and a hallmark associated with Jordan and its citizens. He noted that coordinated national efforts have elevated the role of social volunteering in the government's plans and priorities.
He emphasized the ministry's commitment, in collaboration with partners, to organize and unify volunteer efforts across individuals, institutions, and teams to achieve sustainable development goals and address the priorities and needs of local communities.
Adwan highlighted that the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service was launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to promote a culture of volunteering, encourage initiative, innovation, and excellence in volunteer work, and recognize the contributions of individuals and institutions supporting volunteerism.
He expressed the ministry's aspiration to strengthen collaboration with the Arab Voluntary Union to exchange expertise, adopt best practices in various forms of volunteering, and expand the Jordanian volunteering experience and the award across the region.
For his part, Bu Hazaa congratulated Amman on being named Arab Youth Capital for 2025. He pointed to the Arab Voluntary Union's efforts in volunteering, regional and global awards for volunteer projects, its role in implementing training programs, and supporting local and regional volunteer initiatives.
He noted that Jordanian volunteer initiatives consistently rank highly in regional and international awards and stressed the union's commitment to conducting training programs for volunteers and staff in volunteer organizations across Arab countries.
The meeting was attended by the union's secretary-general for finance, Hussein Shaker; the union's advisor in Jordan, Rakan Fakhouri; coordinator Kamal Al-Maghrabi; and the ministry's director of policies and planning, Jihad Masa'dah.
