Parubiy Murder: Investigators Do Not Rule Out That Suspect Intended To Flee Abroad

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was announced during a briefing by the Deputy Head of the National Police, Head of the Criminal Police Andriy Niebytov, Ukrinform reports.

“We do not rule out that the person intended to leave Ukraine. This is being verified,” he said.

According to him, one person has been notified of suspicion.

“At this time, there is no information about accomplices. We have not ruled out any versions, but our priority is to work through information about a possible Russian connection,” he added.

The suspect is a Lviv resident born in 1973 who lived in Lviv. He did not have a permanent job and worked odd jobs.

“He had certain circumstances under which he committed this murder. We do not want to give details about why, what the motive was. The SSU, the National Police, which is investigating the case, and the Office of the Prosecutor General say that the details need to be worked out,” the law enforcement officer noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, in the afternoon of August 30 in Lviv, former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and Member of Parliament Andriy Parubiy was shot dead.

The attacker fled, and a special operation“Siren” was announced in the city.

Head of the police in the Lviv region, Oleksandr Shliakhovskyi, and Head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Mykola Meret, stated that law enforcement officers will investigate the version of a possible Russian trace in Parubiy's murder.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that in the Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officers detained the suspect in Parubiy's murder.
