Erdogan, Putin Hold Diplomatic Talks at SCO Summit
(MENAFN) On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 25th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
President Erdogan, currently in Tianjin, China, for the SCO Heads of State Council Summit, met Putin at a local hotel venue.
During the encounter, Erdogan warmly addressed Putin, saying, “My dear friend, you know how much we would like to welcome you to Türkiye. My invitation remains open. We look forward to seeing you in our country as soon as possible. We have a sincere relationship based on trust. Our relationship continues to progress unaffected by temporary challenges.”
Throughout their discussion, the two leaders explored the evolving ties between Türkiye and Russia, along with prominent regional and international matters.
Erdogan emphasized that the partnership between the two nations is advancing steadily, grounded in mutual respect and aligned interests.
He also highlighted that prior collaboration in sectors like commerce, travel, capital investment, and energy remains strong.
The Turkish leader reaffirmed Türkiye's ongoing commitment to fostering a fair and enduring resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, noting the role of the Istanbul talks in supporting diplomatic progress.
In addition, Erdogan and Putin exchanged perspectives on Israel’s military operations in Gaza and developments in Syria, underscoring the importance of maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity.
