Amman, Sep. 1 (Petra) -- The national football team kicked off its training sessions in Moscow on Sunday as part of its ongoing preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the "Nashama" will compete for the first time in the nation's history.
Under the guidance of head coach Jamal Salami, the team held its first technical and physical training session at the auxiliary field of Spartak Stadium, with 22 players in attendance. Additional squad members are expected to join the camp in the coming days, bringing the roster to its full strength of 30 players.
The squad features key players such as Yazid Abu Laila, Mousa Al-Taamari, Nour Al-Rawabdeh, and Yazan Al-Nuaimat, alongside a mix of seasoned internationals and emerging talents, reflecting a balanced lineup aimed at delivering strong performances on the global stage.
As part of its training program, the national team is scheduled to face Russia in a high-profile friendly on Thursday evening at Spartak Stadium. The camp also includes a friendly against the Dominican Republic on September 9 at Amman International Stadium, providing additional match experience ahead of upcoming regional and international competitions.
The Jordan Football Association (JFA) emphasized that these training camps and international friendlies are designed to ensure the team reaches peak readiness for the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 in Qatar and the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Jordan made history earlier this year by becoming the first Arab nation to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a milestone that has energized players, fans, and officials alike.
