Musk pledges to finance legal action against UK officials over grooming gangs
(MENAFN) Elon Musk has pledged financial support for legal action targeting British officials accused of failing to act against grooming gangs, following revelations of widespread institutional negligence.
In a post on his social media platform X, Musk responded to findings from an independent inquiry led by Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe, which uncovered "gross negligence" by public institutions in dealing with child exploitation cases involving grooming gangs — many composed primarily of men of Pakistani descent. These gangs have been involved in the abuse, rape, and torture of underage girls across the UK for decades.
“I want to help fund lawsuits against corrupt officials who enabled the rape of Britain, as revealed in the official government inquiry,” Musk stated.
The inquiry linked by Musk identified 85 localities where gang-related child sexual exploitation had occurred or is ongoing. Lowe reported that the investigation has heard from hundreds of survivors, family members, and whistleblowers, and has collected thousands of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to support its findings.
Lowe's report emphasized a consistent failure by public bodies to act, particularly in cases involving "predominantly Pakistani rape gangs."
The issue has drawn renewed political attention. In June, Prime Minister Keir Starmer reversed his earlier stance and announced a national inquiry into the mass sexual abuse of young girls by grooming gangs.
In a follow-up post, Musk called for both civil and criminal proceedings against officials who either enabled or ignored the abuse. “Start by condemning those in authority who collaborated with or turned a blind eye to the rape epidemic of their own people,” he wrote.
