Trump demands prosecution of Soros

(MENAFN) Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly demanded that billionaire George Soros and his son, Alexander, face criminal charges for allegedly backing violent protests across the country. Posting on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, Trump urged the use of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) — a law typically applied to criminal enterprises — to prosecute the Soros family.

Trump accused Soros and his “Radical Left” son of fueling unrest and destabilizing the nation, claiming they have been involved in actions that justify federal charges. He asserted that their influence has led to widespread violence and declared that Soros should no longer be allowed to “rip apart America.”

While Trump did not cite specific protests, his comments come after a summer of large-scale demonstrations. One notable example includes riots in Los Angeles in June, where protests against federal immigration raids turned violent, resulting in property damage, arrests, and National Guard deployments.

George Soros, a Hungarian-American financier, has long been associated with supporting progressive and civil rights movements through his Open Society Foundations (OSF). The OSF has funded numerous activist groups in the U.S., including some involved in the Black Lives Matter movement. A few of these groups have been linked to violent episodes during protests.

Additionally, Soros’s name has reemerged in political controversy due to his alleged involvement in the 2016 "Russiagate" scandal. A recent Senate Judiciary Committee report claimed that OSF had ties to the Clinton campaign's efforts to promote false allegations of Trump-Russia collusion.
