War Update: 77 Combat Engagements Since Day-Start, Fighting Ongoing In Four Sectors

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook , providing operational information as of 16:00 on Sunday, August 31, Ukrinform reports.

From their territory, Russian forces shelled multiple settlements in Ukraine's border regions, including Kliusy (Chernihiv region), Sorokyne, Prohres, Novovasylivka, Tovstodubove, Nova Huta, Zarichne, Znob-Novhorodske, Buniakyne, Seredyna-Buda, and Bachivsk (Sumy region).

The occupiers also struck the settlement of Velyka Bereza with guided aerial bombs.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors , Russian forces shelled the Ukrainian positions and settlements 99 times, including three strikes with multiple rocket launchers (MRLs).

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector , Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks near Vovchansk, Hlyboke, and Krasne Pershe.

In the Kupiansk sector , fighting continues near Synkivka.

In the Lyman sector , Russian troops attacked 13 times near Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, and Karpivka, as well as toward Dronivka, Serebrianka, Yampil, and Hryhorivka. Five combat encounters are still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector , Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks. Russian forces attempted to advance near Hryhorivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector , no combat encounters were reported today.

In the Toretsk sector , Ukrainian forces repelled four offensive actions by Russian forces near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Poltavka.

In the Pokrovsk sector , Russian forces attempted 32 times to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Shakhove, Fedorivka, Maiak, Nikanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Novoeconomichne, Myroliubivka, Sukhetske, Promin, Sukyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove, and Dachne. Ukrainian defenders held firm, having repelled 26 enemy attacks so far.

In the Novopavlivka sector , Russian troops launched 18 attacks near Filia, Yalta, Tovste, Oleksandrohrad, Maliivka, Voskresenka, and Komyshuvakha. Six combat encounters are ongoing. Guided aerial bombs struck Havrylivka.

In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors , the enemy conducted no offensive operations today.

In the Prydniprovske sector , Russian forces carried out one attack without success. Airstrikes targeted Odradokamianka.

In other sectors of the front, the situation has not changed significantly.

As reported by Ukrinform, Russia's spring-summer campaign in Ukraine this year failed to achieve its objectives.
