Al-Shannaq: Israel Targets Palestinian Authority And Seeks To Deny Any National Designation

(MENAFN- Amman Net) Ahmad Al-Shannaq, Secretary-General of the National Constitutional Party, stated in an interview on the program Al-Manara on Radio Al-Balad that Israel, with U.S. support, is targeting the Palestinian Authority and working to deny any national designation for Palestinians, whether as a "Palestinian people" or a "national authority." He emphasized that the aim is to reduce Palestinians to mere population clusters without political cohesion and to displace them from the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Al-Shannaq added that Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem practically prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. He noted that the Zionist plan seeks to fragment the West Bank into "small urban links" rather than maintain a unified Palestinian national entity.

He highlighted that the recent White House meeting, involving Jared Kushner and former President Donald Trump, reflects plans to weaken the Palestinian Authority, with U.S. and Israeli projects aiming to redraw the regional geopolitical map at the expense of Palestinians, while ignoring any unified Arab role. Al-Shannaq warned that the forced displacement of Palestinians constitutes a declaration of war on Jordan and the broader region.

Al-Shannaq stressed that Turkey's decision to cut relations with Israel is intended to protect Turkish national security, particularly concerning Alawite and Kurdish issues in Syria, and signals Ankara's rejection of U.S.-Israeli dominance projects in the region.

He underscored that Gaza remains an open confrontation zone, with ongoing military operations and population displacement. The ultimate goal, he explained, is not simply to suppress resistance but to render Gaza uninhabitable and significantly reduce its population.

Al-Shannaq noted that negotiations with the Palestinian Authority or prisoner exchange deals have not changed the realities on the ground. U.S. and Israeli initiatives continue to maintain control over Palestinian territories, disregarding historical and legitimate Palestinian rights.

He warned that the absence of a unified Arab stance exacerbates the crisis, stating that mere statements are insufficient. Practical Arab coordination is necessary to counter attempts at imposing U.S.-Israeli hegemony.

Concluding, Al-Shannaq emphasized that the Palestinian issue is no longer solely a humanitarian matter but a strategic test for regional power dynamics. He insisted that any forced displacement of Palestinians constitutes a direct threat to the national security of neighboring Arab states, particularly Jordan.

He further highlighted that the U.S. controls regional developments by supporting Israeli projects, and any weak or purely rhetorical Arab action cannot deter Israeli plans.

Al-Shannaq confirmed that the conflict encompasses all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, where Israeli policies aim for full annexation and Judaization, making the continued presence of the Palestinian Authority highly precarious.

He clarified that the escalation in Gaza and population displacement is part of a broader plan to reshape the Middle East, warning that Arab inaction increases the likelihood of these plans being implemented.

Finally, Al-Shannaq stressed that Turkey's actions reflect its rejection of regional hegemony schemes and protect its national security, particularly regarding Alawite and Kurdish issues in Syria. He warned that continued forced displacement of Palestinians, especially in Gaza and the West Bank, would directly threaten the security of neighboring Arab states, especially Jordan.

He concluded that weak Arab positions or statements without implementation are insufficient to counter U.S.-Israeli projects, calling for practical Arab coordination to protect Palestinians and solidify their cause in both awareness and reality.
