Majid Al Futtaim Celebrates Milestone With 100Th Retail Store, First Carrefour In Suez
The launch reinforces the Group's long-standing confidence in the Egyptian market, where it has operated for over two decades. It also reflects Majid Al Futtaim's continued efforts to expand into strategic locations, improve access to high-quality goods and services, and contribute meaningfully to Egypt's social and economic development in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
The new Carrefour store spans 900 square meters and offers over 7,000 products, including fresh and frozen food, bakery items, household essentials, and home appliances-catering to a wide range of consumer needs.
Speaking at the store's opening, Abdallah Ramadan, Deputy Governor of Suez, stated:“The inauguration of Carrefour in Suez reflects the value of public-private partnerships in driving economic development. It highlights our shared commitment to enhancing market stability, creating job opportunities, and improving quality of life for our citizens.”
Gunther Helm, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Retail, remarked:“The opening of our 100th store, and our debut in the Suez Governorate, marks a significant step in Majid Al Futtaim's enduring partnership with Egypt. Over the past 25 years, we have invested more than $2.5 billion in the country, creating over 144,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.”

Significantly, 99% of Carrefour's in-store products are locally sourced, underscoring the Group's strong support for the local economy. Through partnerships with more than 800 Egyptian suppliers, including farmers, SMEs, and manufacturers, Majid Al Futtaim continues to champion sustainable growth and inclusive development across the country.
