US ICE shows pictures of Ukrainian deportees calling them aliens

(MENAFN) The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has taken down social media posts highlighting the deportation of Ukrainian nationals, coinciding with President Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to Washington.

The deleted posts, which appeared Tuesday on X and Facebook, showed several individuals in civilian clothing standing with Ukrainian border officials. The captions read: “Here are photos of Ukrainian aliens’ first moments back home following their removal from the United States.” It remains unclear when or why the content was removed.

Zelensky had met with US President Donald Trump a day earlier, along with leaders from European states, the EU, and NATO, for discussions on peace efforts with Russia and potential security guarantees for Kiev.

ICE frequently publishes photos and videos of deportees as part of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement campaign. The president has repeatedly promised to launch “the largest deportation” in US history, focused on removing violent offenders.

Responding to the matter, Andrey Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Border Guard Service, said on Tuesday that all nations possess “the sovereign right” to expel illegal migrants.

At the same time, Ukrainian lawmakers continue to debate measures to curb the departure of military-age men amid the ongoing mobilization drive. Recent legislation has expanded the pool of individuals eligible for conscription, according to reports.
