Volkswagen, FAW Collaborate in Launching 11 New Models in China

(MENAFN) Volkswagen Group has entered into a significant strategic collaboration with FAW, planning to launch 11 new models in China by 2026. This includes a total of ten new energy vehicles (NEVs), underscoring Volkswagen’s commitment to expanding its footprint in China’s rapidly evolving automotive sector, as reported by the German car manufacturer on Monday.

The new lineup will consist of six fully electric vehicles (BEVs), two plug-in hybrids, and two range-extender electric vehicles, furthering Volkswagen's ambition to cater to China's rising demand for sustainable transportation. This initiative is embedded within the broader "In China, for China" policy, designed to solidify Volkswagen's competitive edge in the world’s predominant automotive market.

In addition to expanding its model offerings, Volkswagen’s Jetta brand is set to release its first electric vehicle by 2026, aiming to capture the growing market for affordable electric vehicles. Between 2025 and 2027, the company plans to launch around 40 new models in China, with more than half of them being electrified, reflecting its commitment to transitioning to cleaner transportation options.

Ralf Brandstaetter, a board member of Volkswagen AG overseeing the China market, underscored that the collaboration with FAW serves as a "strong pillar" of Volkswagen’s strategic presence in the country. He also emphasized the company’s intention to leverage local research and development capabilities to further integrate advanced intelligent and connected vehicle technologies into its product lineup.
