Azerbaijan becomes member of D-8 economic group


(MENAFN) On Saturday, Azerbaijani Leader Ilham Aliyev approved Azerbaijan’s participation in the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, making the region’s membership to the group official.

A remark from the Azerbaijani Leadership stated that Aliyev inked a decision approving the entry, after full backing from D-8 heads at the Cairo Summit on Dec. 19, 2024.

The D-8 was established to increase economic collaboration between developing countries which includes Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, as well as Bangladesh.

Azerbaijan’s membership is intended to deepen trade cooperation in addition to strengthening its position in world financial matters, in line with the D-8’s duty to boost trade, strengthen the portrayal in international policy making, as well as improving life conditions for the countries participated.
