Kuwaiti-US Team To Investigate Desert Observer Exercise Accident

KUWAIT, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that it had assembled a Kuwaiti-US technical team to investigate the accident of the "Desert Observer" exercise that occurred on Wednesday.
The move came upon the directives of Minister of Defense Shaikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah.
In a press release, the Ministry of Defense affirmed that the visit of Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah to the location of the accident in Al-Adarea Area and assembling the investigative team reflects the cooperation and partnership between the two sides and joint keenness on applying the high standards of safety in training and exercises.
Earlier, the Army Chief of Staff mourned the death of two members of the Kuwaiti Ground Forces and the injury of two others while carrying out night shooting exercise with live ammunition on Wednesday, as part of the joint military exercise between Kuwait and the US.
The military funeral service for the martyrs of duty, First Sergeant Ahmad Farhan and Assistant Sergeant Dhahi Al-Shammari, is scheduled to be held this afternoon at Sulaibekhat cemetery. (end)
