US, Canadian sports fans boo each other's national anthems

(MENAFN) This week United States and Canadian issues escalated to the sports scene, as fans boo each other’s national anthem.

Some Canadian fans booed the United States national anthem in the 4 Nations Face-Off, a main ice hockey competition in Montreal, with concerns on business exchange as well as land rapidly intensified into quarrels.

So some fans at Boston's TD Garden reacted by booing Canada’s national anthem on Monday.

First before the anthems played in the northeastern US city, the announcer asked the fans to "kindly respect the national anthems and the players representing each country." As many people in the audience wearing red Canadian t-shirts participated in chanting O Canada, some boos were still heard.

Bad blood was obvious both inside and outside of the sports scene, especially after Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau wrote on X on Sunday that he was "damn proud of this country" after the boos during the United States national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.
