Trump: No Rights To Return For Palestinians Under Gaza Takeover Plan

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) US President Donald Trump's recent remarks about Gaza sparked controversy as he claimed that Palestinians would not have the right to return. His comments contradict those of senior US officials, who suggested“temporary relocation” of Gaza's residents.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump mentioned that he would“seize Gaza” and referred to it as a“real estate construction project.” He added that the people of Gaza would have no choice but to leave their land due to widespread destruction from Israel's military actions.

While Trump confirmed Israel's destructive military operations in Gaza since October 7, 2023, he has never criticized Israel. Republican figures blame Hamas for the current situation, pointing to the group's actions as the cause of the conflict.

International response to Trump's plan has been mostly negative, with Muslim countries and Palestinian groups opposing it. Israeli officials support the plan, viewing it as a solution to security concerns and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

Trump's plan includes resettling Palestinians in Egypt and Jordan, but both countries have rejected it. Arab nations have called the proposal impractical, while human rights organizations have labeled it a violation of international law.

Trump has announced plans to establish six new settlements outside Gaza for Palestinians, turning them into permanent refugee camps funded by the U.S. He also claimed Palestinians would not have the right to return, promising them better homes elsewhere.

In response, Navi Pillay from the UN Human Rights Organization criticized the plan, calling it an international crime and likening it to ethnic cleansing. She emphasized that there is no legal basis for forcibly relocating Palestinians from their land.

Experts suggest that any sustainable solution must address both the humanitarian crisis and the political rights of Palestinians, with international mediation necessary to facilitate peace and protect human rights in the region.
