KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Priority OnDemand, a leading national healthcare services and medical transportation company, announced today the appointment of Eric Van Horn as Chief Executive Officer of OnDemand Visit. OnDemand Visit is a subsidiary of Priority OnDemand that focuses on developing innovative mobile healthcare solutions and bridging emergency medical responses with in-home preventative care. Van Horn will lead the company's efforts to broaden the mobile healthcare organization's reach and improve patient access to care. Van Horn brings extensive experience in home-based care and healthcare innovation, most recently serving as Chief Growth Officer of Optum's Home & Community division following Optum's acquisition of Landmark Health, which he co-founded.
OnDemand Visit integrates emergency and non-emergency care through innovative programs designed to enhance patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. Working in connection with Priority OnDemand's extensive EMS care abilities, patients can receive tailored care at every step, from emergency response to recovery and wellness, when and where patients need them most.
"This is an exciting opportunity to merge this network of healthcare providers alongside mobile health technology to transform healthcare delivery," said Van Horn. "EMS providers have an earned trust and respect in the community and can reach patients wherever they are. Combine that insight with technology for virtual care and Priority's 24/7 integrated medical group, and we can improve access for our most vulnerable populations, whether in dense urban centers or rural healthcare deserts."
"Everyone talks about improving access. We know that this model can deliver it," said Bryan Gibson, CEO of Priority OnDemand. "Eric's background building successful home-based care models and scaling operations makes him uniquely qualified to lead OnDemand Visit. His expertise is the right fit to take the tools and staff in place and deploy them strategically for success."
Van Horn's experience includes co-founding Landmark Health, which provided in-home medical care primarily to patients with complex, chronic health conditions, as President and Chief Business Officer. Before Landmark, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of CareMore Health Plan, leading product-line growth, development, and product and network management through the company's sale to Anthem.
Van Horn's roots in the EMS and healthcare industries run deep. Coming from a family of nurses, paramedics, and EMS leaders, he understands the industry. He was introduced to Priority OnDemand through his role as an advisor on the Operating Council for Consonance Capital Partners, an investment partner with Priority OnDemand.
"Ambulance companies have customarily been reactive to patient needs," Van Horn said. "We want to extend patient touchpoints beyond traditional emergency responses, adding proactive preventive care."
Van Horn holds a BA in Quantitative Economics and Decision Sciences from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA in Operations from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
