Egypt Holds Ministerial Meeting To Coordinate Medical Support For Gaza Injuries

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee for Receiving Palestinian Injured, aiming to enhance coordination between ministries and relevant entities to ensure the best possible medical care for those affected by the events in Gaza.

The meeting was attended by Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of housing and Urban Utilities; Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development; and Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals. Discussions focused on deploying specialized medical teams, designating liaison officers within relevant ministries to ensure swift decision-making, and improving crisis response mechanisms.

The committee highlighted its role in coordinating with the Crisis Committee, which convenes regularly at El Arish General Hospital to oversee patient admissions. It was agreed that each ministry would appoint a dedicated representative, along with a university hospital delegate, to communicate with governorates and facilitate logistical arrangements.

Plans were put in place to ensure the efficient triage and transport of injured patients, with hospitals in the Canal region prepared to accommodate cases as needed. A specialized medical committee, composed of university experts and health officials, will be responsible for prioritizing patient transfers based on medical urgency. Continuous coordination with the governors of host regions will ensure all necessary support is provided while swiftly addressing any logistical challenges.

In addition to medical efforts, the committee stressed the importance of engaging civil society, NGOs, and the Egyptian Red Crescent to support the injured and their families. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to providing round-the-clock coordination to ensure a seamless response and comprehensive medical assistance.
