Navy Spox: Two Russian Submarines In Black Sea, One With Volley Of Up To Four“Kalibr”

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) There are two Russian submarines in the Black Sea, one of them is a cruise missile carrier, but they were not used during the air attack this time.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk on television, Ukrinform reports.

“There are two submarines in the sea. One of them is not a cruise missile carrier, the other is a cruise missile carrier, the so-called Warsawianka project 636, which can carry up to 4 missiles. But the situation has remained unchanged for a long time. And this time, even during the air attack, they did not use a cruise missile carrier, which is really strange, because they usually use them as well,” Pletenchuk said.

He added that there is currently no verified information on why Russia does not use submarine-launched missiles during air attacks.

However, according to the Ukrainian Navy spokesperson, the reasons for this may be different. According to him, it could be both technical reasons and some specific decisions not to use these missiles.

“They are well aware that the effectiveness of these missiles is limited to the fact that they are actually a distraction. Quite severe, quite expensive, quite dangerous, but still a distraction. And given the low efficiency, maybe they decided to save them for some other situation. Therefore, there may be many options here,” Pletenchuk emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported, on January 31, Russians hit the historic center of Odesa with three ballistic missiles, hitting a hotel.
