Robbers take control of NY subway train

(MENAFN) New York City Police are investigating a group of individuals who took control of a subway train in Queens and went on a joyride. Six suspects are believed to have boarded an unoccupied 'R' train near the 71st Avenue station in Forest Hills before 10:30 PM on Saturday. Initially, authorities responded to vandalism reports, but they discovered that the individuals had taken the train on a short ride, filming and posting videos on social media.

In the footage, one person operates the train’s controls, while another hangs out of the front door, dangling over the tracks. The train had been left unattended on a layup track, and the intruders appear to have accessed the train using transit keys. Authorities are unsure of how far the train was moved but have confirmed it was traveling at high speeds.

The NYPD is treating the incident as reckless endangerment, and the MTA is collaborating with the police to investigate.
