FM Sitharaman Unveils Major Push For Skilling & Education: Budget 2025-26

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Feb 1 (KNN) In a comprehensive outline of investment priorities during the Budget 2025-26 presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted investment as the third engine of growth, focusing on people, economy, and innovation.

This strategic framework emphasizes skill development and educational expansion as key drivers of India's economic advancement.

Building upon initiatives announced in the July 2024 budget, the government will establish five National Centers of Excellence for skilling.

These centers, developed through international partnerships and incorporating global expertise, are designed to equip Indian youth with advanced manufacturing capabilities aligned with both domestic and international market demands.

The initiative represents a significant step toward enhancing India's manufacturing competitiveness on the global stage.

The Finance Minister also highlighted remarkable growth in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) system over the past decade. Student enrollment across the 23 IITs has shown impressive expansion, doubling from 65,000 to 135,000 students.

This substantial increase reflects the government's commitment to expanding access to premier technical education institutions.

These educational and skilling initiatives demonstrate the government's integrated approach to human capital development, combining advanced technical education with practical skill enhancement.

The dual focus on IIT expansion and specialized skill development centers positions India to meet evolving workforce demands while strengthening its manufacturing capabilities for both domestic and international markets.
