Another Aviation Tragedy In The US: Plane Crash In Philadelphia Kills Six


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) A small aircraft has crashed near a shopping mall in northeastern Philadelphia , resulting in the deaths of six people , according to media reports .

Rescue operations are underway at the crash site, while authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

This accident follows another Aviation tragedy that occurred on January 30 (Thursday) in Washington , where a passenger plane and a military helicopter collided , claiming the lives of all 67 people on board . Among the victims was a Pakistani woman, Asri Hussain .

Authorities have so far retrieved the remains of 41 victims , with 28 bodies identified . Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

According to media reports , initial investigations have revealed that the airport control tower was understaffed at the time of the incident. A task that typically requires two controllers was handled by a single controller . The passenger plane's pilot was given last-minute instructions to switch runways , which the pilot complied with. Following this, the controller issued clearance , directing the aircraft towards a smaller runway .

However, 30 seconds before the crash , the air traffic controller asked the Black Hawk helicopter pilot whether he could see the approaching passenger plane . Moments later, the helicopter was instructed to let the passenger aircraft pass first before proceeding . However, the controller received no response from the helicopter pilot , and within seconds, the collision occurred .
