The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged financial support for humanitarian demining operations in Azerbaijan, according to the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), Azernews reports.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ANAMA Chairman Vugar Suleymanov and UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammed Al Blooshi to formalize the cooperation. The support will focus on demining operations, enhancing the agency's technical capacity, procuring essential equipment, and conducting mine awareness initiatives in areas near the former line of contact.

Suleymanov expressed gratitude for the UAE's contribution, highlighting the scale of contamination in liberated territories and ongoing efforts to address the problem. "The importance of international collaboration and resources in tackling Azerbaijan's mine problem cannot be overstated," he noted.

Ambassador Al Blushi reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting Azerbaijan in its humanitarian demining activities, emphasizing the bond of friendship between the two nations.

The meeting also included discussions on the progress of demining efforts and opportunities to strengthen cooperation in this critical area.
