At Least 20 Killed In Congo Ship Sinking

"At least twenty bodies of the dead were found at the site of the shipwreck near the village of Majoko on the Lukeni River in Mai-Ndombe province," the publication said.

Sixteen dead people were found on Tuesday, and another four were found at the scene of the accident on Monday. It is expected that further downstream, fishermen and villagers will later discover more dead people and the death toll will rise.

"The search continues. In total, 16 men and four women have died," he added.

It was previously reported that the ship arrived in Kuta on Sunday evening and continued on its way in the dark. According to the portal, while turning, the vessel caught on tree roots on the river bottom and capsized.

As a result of the sinking of the ship, 15 people managed to escape, including the multimillionaire's wife Angela Bacares and their one-year-old daughter.
