ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 26. Kazakhstan's Air
Astana will launch a direct flight from Shymkent to Jeddah from
September 10, 2024, Trend reports.
According to Air Astana, flights will be operated on Tuesdays
and Fridays on an Airbus A320 aircraft.
Thus, the minimum cost of tickets in Economy class in both
directions with all fees is 384,600 tenge (about $810); in business
class, it is 864,309 tenge (about $1,820).
To note, flights to Jeddah are also operated from Almaty on
Thursdays and Sundays.
In addition, due to the closure of Astana airport at night, Air
Astana is launching a direct Almaty-Karaganda flight from August 8.
The flight will operate on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until
repair work at the capital's airport is completed.
The minimum cost of tickets in economy class in both directions
with all fees is 35,179 tenge (about $74); in business class, it is
104,529 tenge (about $220).
Meanwhile, the number of passengers transported by air in
Kazakhstan amounted to 13.3 million from January through December
2023. This is 20.7 percent more than in the same period in
2022.
At the same time, passenger turnover amounted to 25.9 billion
p-km (increased by 28.8 percent compared to January–December
2022).
Furthermore, Kazakhstan is taking consistent steps to develop
air transport in the country.
Thus, in 2023, the aircraft fleet of Kazakh airlines increased
from 89 to 98 units, and the seat capacity increased from 12,000 to
15,000 (an increase of 26 percent). All this will improve the
regularity of flights and the accessibility of air travel in
general.
