Best Paper Awards: Kashmiri Doctor Awarded At 4Th World Congress Of GI Endoscopy Held In Seoul


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Dr. Hameed Raina, Gastroenterologist hailing from Hussipora, Chadoora in Central Kashmir's Budgam district has been honored with the Best Abstract Award at the prestigious 4th World congress of GI Endoscopy (ENDO 2024), held in Seoul South Korea this month.

This accolade was given in recognition of his ground-breaking presentation on the technique of“EUS Guided Liver Biopsy.”

Dr Raina is also a
Hepatologist, and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopist
&
Endosonographer( EUS specialist).

ENDO 2024, one of the largest gastroenterology conferences globally, attracted over 5,000 participants including leading experts and practitioners in the field from around the world. The event provided a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas, cutting-edge research, and advancements in gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Dr Raina presented his paper and technique of“EUS GUIDED LIVER BIOPSY. His presentation showcased his novel technique for EUS Guided Liver Biopsy, which has the potential to revolutionize liver biopsy procedures.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Raina expressed his gratitude and dedication to continuing his research and innovations in the field.“It is an honor to be recognized on such a prestigious platform. This award is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of my team and the support of my mentors and colleagues. I look forward to furthering our efforts in advancing gastroenterological and advanced endoscopic
practices,” he said.


Dr Raina told Kashmir Observer that this technique offers a safe
painless, comparable efficacy to other conventional methods with very
high patient satisfaction
for obtaining liver tissue samples, thus improving patient outcomes and enhancing diagnostic precision , Both lobes of liver can be accessed for obtaining liver biopsies
which is not possible with other
methods.

“My journey in the field of gastroenterology is marked by numerous accolades, awards
and contributions. I began my medical career with an MBBS from Government Medical College, Srinagar in 2005, followed by an MD in Internal Medicine from Sheri-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) between 2012 and 2015,” he said.

“I then topped the DM Entry exam at the prestigious Tata Hospital, Mumbai, where I completed his DM in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2019.
I also
qualified for the MRCP-UK in 2020′′ and did many
fellowships like in
GI motility disorders , advanced therapeutic endoscopy like third place endoscopy
EUS.

He is the first Gastroenterologist from
J&
K who performs POEM
and
other Advanced third space endoscopic procedures

He also
has
many other national and
international
awards
and publications
to
his
name.
