Arab League Welcomes Yemeni Parties' De-Escalation Deal


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 25 (KUNA) -- The Arab League welcomed on Thursday the declaration by UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg's office of a de-escalation agreement between Yemen's legitimate government and Houthis regarding the country's banking sector and airways.
The measures agreed upon between the disputing parties aim to mitigate humanitarian sufferings of Yemeni people, Jamal Roshi, spokesman for League's Secretary General, said in a statement.
De-escalation and improving conditions of those parties will contribute to resuming Political and diplomatic efforts aiming to reach a peaceful solution to Yemen's crisis, Roshdi added.
Such deals are a key step to for confidence building if Houthis are committed to de-escalation and show sincere intentions to be engaged in a political process based on the three references which result in ending the 10-year conflict of Yemen, he stressed. (end)
