Turkish President Says ICJ's Ruling On Israel Should Awaken International Community
Ankara: Commenting on the International Court of Justice (ICJ)'s advisory opinion which ruled that Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories as being illegal, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hoped that this decision "Will bring an awakening in the international community."
In a statement, the Turkish President said that Israel must be punished for its actions, adding that Palestinian suffering must not be normalized.

Erdogan said that Turkiye has applied pressure on various countries in this regard, and will continue to do so, adding that Spain, Finland, and Norway's decision to recongnize the State of Palestine is a significant step forward.
The Turkish President underscored the need to end the Israeli occupation's violations, something he considered a collective duty.
On Friday, the ICJ had affirmed Palestinians' right to self-determination and ruled that Israeli settlements in the occupied territories must be evacuated.
