Army Major Shoots Border Guard In Ternopil Hotel Over Jealousy


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In a Ternopil hotel, an officer from one of the military units shot dead a 25-year-old border guard.

That's according to Yulia Shevchenko, spokeswoman for the Western region's Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense, Ukrinform reports.

"On the night of July 21, a tragic incident did take place in a Ternopil hotel. Around three o'clock in the morning, a major from one of the military units fired several shots from a weapon (pistol) assigned to him at a 25-year-old soldier from the border guard agency. The latter died at the scene of the incident from the bullet wounds he received," said the spokeswoman.

As per tentative reports, the shooting was triggered by jealousy.

Currently, the officer is being held in custody.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, a shooting incident involving a policeman was documented outside of the landmark Pryvoz street market in Odesa.
