QNB becomes Qatar’s 1st bank to initiate cyber-security awareness campaign

(MENAFN) QNB, recognized as the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, has initiated its cyber-security awareness campaign titled “Stay Protected.” Launched at the beginning of May 2024, this campaign seeks to educate customers about fraudulent calls and scams, aiming to promote secure transactions and enhance the overall banking experience. The initiative aligns with the Qatar Central Bank's (QCB) newly introduced National Information Security Awareness Campaign, “Stay Aware,” demonstrating QNB's commitment to fostering a culture of safety and awareness among its clientele.

The campaign features a series of engaging social media videos designed to resonate with all customer demographics. These videos portray realistic scenarios where scammers impersonate various roles, including bank representatives, salespersons, delivery agents, and even family members, all in attempts to extract sensitive banking information. Through this approach, QNB aims to communicate essential guidance on how customers can recognize and avoid such deceptive calls.

Heba Ali Al Tamimi, Senior Executive Vice President of QNB Group Communications, emphasized the importance of ensuring customer safety by raising awareness about the risks of sharing sensitive information. She expressed pride in QNB being the first bank in Qatar to launch such a campaign, highlighting their collaborative efforts with QCB to mitigate cyber-threats that could potentially impact national security.

As a leading bank in the region, QNB Group boasts a significant presence across more than 28 countries on three continents, offering a wide array of advanced products and services. The organization employs around 30,000 individuals and operates nearly 900 locations, supported by an extensive network of 5,000 ATMs, underscoring its commitment to providing valuable financial services while prioritizing customer security.
