Amman, July 14 (Petra) - The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced that it had detected 618 electoral advertising violations at the level of the Kingdom's constituencies.
The IEC-monitored violations primarily focused on circulating illegal advertising activities online, installing candidate posters and photos on lighting columns and walls and using the commission's logo, Jordan's electoral body said in a statement.
The irregularities also involved publishing online posts, sending advertising short text messages, and opening electoral headquarters in various constituencies, as well as "black money" cases, the IEC pointed out.
As for its measures regarding these irregularities, the IEC said its efforts primarily focused on removing the candidate poster violations from the Kingdom's streets, deleting breaching online posts, closing the violating electoral headquarters and referring suspects involved in the "black money" cases to the judiciary.
To date, the IEC referred two "black money" incidents to the Public Prosecution in Ajloun constituency, where a ruling was issued in one of the two cases, while the other case is still under consideration before the court.
