Mol Concludes Participation In NHRC's 'Healthy Workers For Sustainable Development' Campaign

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) yesterday wrapped up its participation in the 'Healthy Workers for Sustainable Development' campaign, organised by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), in collaboration with the Ministry, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Primary Health Care Foundation, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Qatar Red Crescent, to raise awareness among employers and workers of the importance of a safe and healthy working environment.

The Ministry's participation in the campaign is part of its commitment to safeguard workers' health and safety in the workplace, enforcing occupational safety procedures, and overseeing establishments to ensure they comply with labour laws provisions.

In his speech at the campaign's closing ceremony, Saad Rashid Al Nabit, Assistant Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Ministry of Labour, highlighted the Ministry's commitment to urge employers and private sector companies to provide essential training and qualification for workers. Additionally, he stressed the importance of promoting awareness and adherence to safety and health regulations among both workers and employers.

This effort aims to enhance efficiency, productivity, and minimize risks related to occupational diseases and accidents, in line with Qatar's strong focus on worker safety and health.

Al Nabit highlighted the State's commitment to workers' rights through reforms to policies and laws for better working conditions, ensuring decent work, respect for dignity, and safety in workplaces and housing, with positive results in line with current and future development goals.

Al Nabit pointed out that the Ministry of Labour, represented by the Occupational Safety and Health Department, aims to enhance collaboration and build a positive partnership with the National Human Rights Committee, represented by the Awareness and Education Department and other relevant departments, in terms of upgrading the work environment and ensuring the right of workers to a safe working environment that meets all standards.

He emphasized readiness to participate in all initiatives held by the National Human Rights Committee focusing on the safety and health of workers.
