Some refugees, who have been waiting in Pakistan for months in anticipation of being transferred to Germany, received rejection emails from the German Foreign Ministry.
Following the collapse of the previous Afghan government, the German federal government committed to relocating one thousand at-risk Afghans to its country monthly.
The German Foreign Ministry had accepted applications from some at-risk Afghans, but in light of recent incidents in Germany, the country has notified Afghan migrants in Pakistan of their rejected applications via email.
According to IRNA's report published on Thursday, Fatemeh Ahmadi is among those who received a rejection response from the German Foreign Ministry after a year of waiting.
The German government had formally recognized Fatemeh as an at-risk individual and had promised her acceptance and relocation. However, the government's letter now states that there is no basis for her acceptance without specifying a reason.
She has even been labeled as a security threat to Germany, despite no such threat being identified during her interview and acceptance promise.
The German Interior Ministry emphasizes its flexible approach in refugee evaluations, noting that decisions can change based on new information received during the process.
Hans-Hermann Dubke, a migration expert, suggests that the recent withdrawal of refugee acceptances and stringent security checks indicate a diminishing political willingness in Germany to accept at-risk Afghan migrants.
Currently, 3,022 at-risk Afghans in Pakistan await acceptance by Germany, according to the latest figures released by the German Interior Ministry, highlighting ongoing challenges in refugee resettlement efforts.
