Challenges affect attendance at Paris Olympics

Further compounding the issue, data from Paris-based consultancy MKG indicates a decline in hotel bookings compared to previous years in the lead-up to the Olympic Games, with revenues in June experiencing a significant 25 percent downturn. Interviews with travel agents, sports enthusiasts, and ticket sellers corroborate these findings, citing prohibitive costs and security apprehensions as key factors dissuading potential attendees, even among avid Olympic fans.
Alan Bachand, a sports travel agent based in the United States, highlighted that current booking levels represent the lowest seen in 25 years for nearly any sporting event, underscoring the magnitude of the challenge facing Paris as it prepares to host the Olympics.
