UBETCH, FAW-Volkswagen enter collaboration to build robot-run car factory

(MENAFN) UBTECH, a leading company in humanoid robotics based in Shenzhen, and FAW-Volkswagen, one of China's earliest joint venture automakers, have entered into a collaboration to enhance production efficiency and automation at FAW-Volkswagen's factory in Qingdao, east China. The partnership includes the development of highly intelligent and flexible production lines, as well as the establishment of an unmanned car factory.

Under the agreement, FAW-Volkswagen will provide UBTECH access to its production facilities in Qingdao. UBTECH will deploy its industrial humanoid robot, Walker S, to perform various tasks crucial in automotive manufacturing, such as bolt tightening, component assembly, and handling of automobile parts. This integration of humanoid robots aims to streamline operations and increase efficiency across the production lines.

UBTECH, in turn, commits to further refining and optimizing its humanoid robots specifically for industrial use. This effort will support FAW-Volkswagen in advancing the intelligence and automation capabilities of its manufacturing processes.

Previously, UBTECH's Walker S robot has been utilized for training purposes at a factory of NIO, a prominent Chinese electric car manufacturer, as well as at Dongfeng Liuzhou's motor assembly workshop. These deployments underscore the versatility and adaptability of humanoid robotics in various industrial settings, enhancing productivity and operational safety.

The collaboration between UBTECH and FAW-Volkswagen represents a significant step towards integrating advanced robotics technologies into traditional manufacturing, paving the way for more efficient and automated production practices in the automotive industry.
