Afghanistan reports exports of commercial goods totalling USD304M in 3 months


(MENAFN) According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Afghanistan, the country reported exports of commercial goods totaling 304 million U.S. dollars from March 20 to June 20. This update was provided by Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, the ministry's spokesperson, in an interview with a local media outlet on Saturday. Jawad highlighted that during the first quarter of the Persian calendar year 1403, Afghanistan's exports and imports amounted to approximately 2.577 billion U.S. dollars. Of this total, exports accounted for 304 million dollars, while imports totaled 2.273 billion dollars.

Afghanistan's key export destinations include Pakistan, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, India, Austria, Uzbekistan, and Russia, as outlined by Jawad. The primary exported goods feature a variety of fresh and dried fruits, such as pistachios, pine nuts, figs, pomegranates, grapes, raisins, melons, as well as watermelons. In addition, carpets, handicrafts, in addition to medicinal herbs constitute significant portions of Afghanistan's export portfolio.

These export figures underscore Afghanistan's ongoing economic activities despite various challenges, highlighting the importance of these sectors in the country's trade landscape.
