(MENAFN- Live Mint) The Delhi government announced on Friday that people facing waterlogging issue in the national capital can send their complaints on Public Works Department's Common Control Room number 1800110093.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said one can also use WhatsApp chatbox to file a waterlogging complaint. "You can also give information about waterlogging by sending a WhatsApp message to 8130188222," the minister said.
The India Meteorological Department's Safdarjung airport observatory recorded 234.5mm of rainfall between June 1 and June 28, the third highest in 124 years, the MET department said on Friday.

Meanwhile, Delhi minister Atishi said Delhi received 228 mm of rain in just 24 hours, following which drains were overflowing. "Due to this, the problem of waterlogging increased and it took time for the water to go down," she added .
She said the maximum rainfall occurred in South Delhi, because of which waterlogging was reported at many places there.
Steps taken by Delhi govt to tackle waterlogging issue
Saurabh Bharadwaj said the Delhi Jal Board has also complained about lack of "stromwater drains", in which case the water flows out of the sewer lines.
"Not just in unauthorized areas, but also in posh areas, these drains have been closed and the water is flowing out of sewer pipes. In this situation, there's a threat of sewer pipes getting choked," he said.
To tackle this, the Delhi Jal Board has been directed to purchase one Recycler machine each for of the 11 locations in Delhi so that large-scale blockages can be eliminated.
"Along with this, the sewer department has been asked to arrange for contract labour for cleaning sewers," Bharadwaj said .
He added that the traffic police, local councillors and MLAs have been asked to provide a list of places where waterlogging problem has occurred. "The Chief Secretary has also been told that after the list arrives, the problem should be resolved by sitting with the concerned departments," he said .
He said all departments will form Quick Response Team. "A Control Room of PWD will be made, in which officers will be present 24 hours...All pumps of all departments should be checked by 10 pm to ensure that none of them has any fault. Mobile pumps will also be reviewed," the minister said .
Full refund of cancelled flights
The central government said in a press release that a 24/7 War Room will be established under the close monitoring of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. "This War Room will ensure the full refund of cancelled flights or provide alternative travel route tickets as per availability," it said.
The government added that all refunds will be processed within a stipulated time of 7 days.
Besides, contact details, including phone numbers, will be provided to passengers for immediate assistance.
