Amman, June 28 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates denounced the policies and maneuvers of the Israeli government that extend and legitimize the Occupation of Palestinian territories by approving the legalization of five settlement outposts in the West bank and pushing for the construction of thousands more settlements there, in flagrant disregard for and flagrant violation of international law and resolutions, and international legitimacy, the most important of which being resolution No. (2334) of the UN Security Council.
Ambassador Sufian Qudah, the ministry spokesperson, emphasized the need to put an end to the illegal and illegitimate Israeli measures as well as the growing settler terrorism in the occupied West Bank. These actions jeopardize any hopes of a just, comprehensive, and long-lasting peace based on the two-state solution, which embodies an independent Palestinian state with sovereignty along the lines of June 4, 1967, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
Additionally, Ambassador Qudah emphasized the necessity for Israel, as the occupying force, to abide by international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, to halt its plans for settlements intended to alter the historical and legal context of the occupied Palestinian territories, and to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
