Egypt's Foreign Minister Discusses Gaza Situation With UN Official For Humanitarian Affairs

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry recently engaged in a conversation with Sigrid Kach, the United Nations Senior Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in the Gaza Strip. The discussion centered around the humanitarian situation in Gaza, particularly the challenges posed by Israel's restrictions on aid entry and the escalating severity of the crisis.

According to Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conversation took place in advance of Kach's monthly briefing to the UN Security Council. Shoukry sought insights from Kach regarding strategies and plans to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinian civilians in Gaza. This included discussing Kach's interactions with Israeli officials to address the restrictions on truck movement at border crossings.

Abu Zeid also highlighted the status of humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza and the impact of Israel's destruction of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing. Shoukry emphasized Egypt's opposition to any interference with aid reaching deserving recipients.

Moving forward, both the Foreign Minister and the UN official agreed to maintain coordination and consultation regarding Gaza's humanitarian situation.
