Iran revives 116 idle, semi-active output units since late March

(MENAFN) Farshad Moghimi, Head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO), highlighted significant strides in economic revitalization, reporting the revival of 116 idle and semi-active production units since the start of the current Iranian calendar year in March. According to IRIB, during the administration of late President Ebrahim Raisi, a total of 10,000 economic units were revived, with 4,600 of them being industrial facilities. These efforts come amid widespread financial challenges and raw material supply issues that have plagued production units across Iran, leading many to cease operations or scale down their activities.

The Industry Ministry's proactive program aims to address these critical issues, identifying and resolving barriers that hinder production units from operating at full capacity. Last month, Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Abbas Ali-Abadi inaugurated 20 projects valued at 294.8 trillion rials (over USD60 million) across various industrial parks and zones in Iran. These projects, launched via video conferencing on the national day supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), encompassed infrastructure development and industrial initiatives in 11 provinces.

The projects included nine infrastructure undertakings with an investment totaling 1.88 trillion rials (about USD3.82 million), seven industrial projects amounting to 18.35 trillion rials (over USD37.8 million), and the reactivation of four idle industrial units involving an investment of 9.24 trillion rials (over USD18.9 million). Notably, these initiatives have generated 723 direct job opportunities, underscoring their role in boosting employment and economic stability in provinces such as Kermanshah, Markazi, Zanjan, Yazd, Alborz, Lorestan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Golestan, Isfahan, Qazvin, and East Azarbaijan.

The concerted efforts under President Raisi's administration signify a strategic push towards economic recovery and industrial growth, aiming to foster a sustainable environment for small and medium-sized enterprises while addressing the systemic challenges hindering production across Iran's diverse economic landscape.
