National News: Hamas Political Office To Move From Qatar To Iraq

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) National News has reported that Hamas Political leaders are preparing to relocate from Doha, the capital of Qatar, to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and negotiations regarding this move have already taken place.

According to the report, Hamas intends to leave Qatar for Iraq because both Doha and Washington are pressuring Hamas leaders to show more flexibility in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

According to its sources, National News has reported that the Iraqi government agreed to this move last month, and if implemented, Iran will provide protection for Hamas leaders, offices, and members in Baghdad.

A senior member of the Iraqi parliament, who has close ties to Hamas, stated that“this initiative was discussed in May by Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, and representatives of the Iraqi and Iranian governments.” Earlier, Hamas security and logistics teams had traveled to Baghdad to oversee the preparations for implementing this plan.

Meanwhile, citing its sources, Shafaq News has reported that Hamas recently opened a political office in Baghdad headed by Mohammed al-Hafiz, a senior Iraqi official, and plans to open a media office in the city within a few weeks.

Neither Hamas's political office, the Iraqi government, nor the Islamic Republic of Iran have officially commented on this matter.

Since 2007, Hamas has controlled Gaza, and its political leaders have been based in Doha since 2012.

Meanwhile, the reported move of Hamas leaders from Doha to Baghdad reflects shifting geopolitical dynamics and pressures in the Middle East, particularly concerning Hamas's role and negotiations in Gaza. As Hamas seeks to relocate its political base, the support and implications from Iraq and Iran underscore regional alliances and strategic calculations amid ongoing regional tensions.
