Noida: Noida International Airport (DXN), currently under development in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar district, aspires to become a premier civil Aviation facility and a key transit hub for the Asia Pacific region, a first for India. The multimodal cargo hub at the airport will be operational by November 2024, said reports.

Developed by Air India SATS, the airport's 80-acre multimodal cargo hub project includes an integrated cargo terminal and a warehousing and logistics zone.

"The work on the multimodal cargo hub at Noida international airport (NIA) is going on in full swing and the ground filling work is complete. The foundation work is underway and it will be ready by November," said reports citing Arun Vir Singh, CEO, NIAL.

"The project will offer a transshipment centre and a warehouse zone for freight forwarders and integrators. The project will also provide for transportation facilities to support road-to-road, road-to-air and air-to-road movements," Singh added.

Located approximately 75 km from Delhi, DXN will be the second international airport in the National Capital Region, complementing Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The state government has fast-tracked the processes for issuing licenses, operations, management, and staff appointments through an e-tendering system. The Noida International Airport Limited is expediting various projects including the development of basic infrastructure around the facility.

The airport's entire development spans 5,000 hectares, with the first phase of construction underway on 1,300 hectares.

Key events, including operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) sessions, customs, and regulatory meetings and a launch event in December 2024, are planned to ensure all operational aspects are addressed.
