(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The number of combat engagements on the front lines has increased to 59 since the beginning of the day. The enemy has intensified activity in the Siversk sector, attacking most actively in the Pokrovsk sector.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine said this in a situation update as of 13:00 on Wednesday, June 19.
“The units of the Defense Forces are responding fiercely to the invaders' assault and offensive actions, destroying their infantry and equipment," the General Staff said.
In the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, border settlements came under artillery shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation. Leonivka, Vidrodzhenivske, Hremyach and Seredyna-Buda came under enemy fire.
In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian army attacked three times today. Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault. Two combat engagements are ongoing near Vovchansk, where Russians struck with three guided aerial bombs (from the area of Belgorod).
In the Kupiansk sector, four combat engagements are ongoing near Synkivka, Novoselivka and Kruhliakivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks, including near Pishchane.
In the Lyman sector, Russian troops made five unsuccessful attempts to push the Ukrainian defense forces near Hrekivka, Nevske and Terny. Fighting continues near Makiivka.
In the Siversk sector, the Russian army is trying to be active in the Novyi area. Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault, while another is ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russians continue to try to dislodge the Defense Forces from their positions near Kalynivka and Ivanivske. Fighting continues in this sector of the frontline.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the invaders are attempting to push through the defense. Since the beginning of the day, they have attacked Ukrainian positions near Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Sokol and Novopokrovske 22 times. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 18 enemy attacks, and four more are ongoing.
In the Kurakhove sector, Russian troops are storming Ukrainian defense units near Krasnohorivka and Paraskoviivka. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled six attacks in this area of the frontline, and another battle is ongoing.
In the Vremivka sector, the Russian army fired 12 unguided aerial missiles at the area of Staromaiorske.
Enemy aircraft are also active in the Dnipro River sector. In particular, the Russians attacked Olhivka with four guided missiles, Krynky with three, and Burhunka with one.
In other sectors, the situation has not changed significantly.
