Government Simplifies Sops For Faster Sanction Of Loans

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jun 17 (KNN) The Indian government is working with banks and other financial institutions to create a common application form and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for faster approval of financial services under its key schemes.

This initiative aims to expedite loan disbursals and insurance renewals. The new system will cover loans for programs such as the rooftop solar scheme and the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).

It will also facilitate insurance policy renewals under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana through the Jan Suraksha portal.

A senior bank executive stated that this move will reduce processing time, bring uniformity to the process, and ensure accurate data capture among all stakeholders.

For instance, in the case of rooftop solar loans, a model scheme has been approved with the State Bank of India designated as the nodal bank.

Additionally, discussions are underway with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to enhance integration with the Udyam portal, simplifying the process for banks in sanctioning MSME loans.

The government has also asked lenders to accelerate lending to self-help groups (SHGs) and microfinance institutions (MFIs), and to offer wider banking products to enterprising individual members.

This initiative is part of the government's broader agenda to drive national priorities through digitally-enabled new operating models for cost optimisation and quality excellence in the banking sector.
