Doha, Qatar: The District 116 Toastmasters Annual Conference, themed“Beyond Words,” held recently at the Pullman Hotel, West Bay, marked a monumental success.
This two-day event united members from across Qatar, featuring competitions, keynote speeches, networking opportunities, and recognition ceremonies.
The conference commenced with a welcome address by DTAC Chair Hissa Al Mohannadi, followed by an inaugural address from Past International President of Toastmasters International, Lark Doley, who set an inspiring tone for the event.
A highlight of the morning was the Banner Parade, led by Mani Roy, showcasing the vibrant and diverse clubs within the district. Chief Guest Munera Al Dosari, a distinguished business leader, delivered an insightful keynote titled“Failures Lead to Success,” motivating the attendees.
Competitions began with the Evaluation Contest chaired by Jithin Joseph Jacob, and continued with the Tamil and Malayalam Speech Contests.
The morning session concluded with the District Director Awards for 2022-23, presented by Rajesh V.C.
The afternoon session included the highly anticipated Humorous Speech Contest, chaired by Hanna Safardokht. A memorable keynote by Lark Doley,“A Centennial Journey,” highlighted Toastmasters International's century-long journey. District Director Ravishankar recognized the current term's leadership, followed by an impactful address by Past Region Advisor Rajeswar Sundaresan.
The day concluded with engaging training sessions by distinguished trainers followed by the gala dinner.
The day two began with a networking breakfast and an exclusive interaction session with global leaders for distinguished club leaders.
The morning featured the Table Topics Contest, chaired by Smitha Abraham, and an inspiring keynote by Verity Price, World Champion of Public Speaking 2021, titled“The Secret to Success in Toastmasters & Life.”
The presentation of District Club Growth Awards by Alar Mel Mangai, Program Quality Awards by Sabeena M K, and PR Awards by Sudhir Gujar were significant highlights.
