Russia surpasses NATO`s anticipations
(MENAFN) Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, has acknowledged that Russia's production of weapons and ammunition since the onset of the conflict with Ukraine has surpassed the expectations of the United States-led military alliance. In an interview with Sky News, Stoltenberg referenced a recent study by Bain & Company, revealing that Moscow's artillery shell production exceeds that of all NATO members combined by more than threefold.
Stoltenberg conceded that NATO nations have faced challenges in ramping up their production capabilities, attributing this lag to the dismantling of defense industries following the Cold War. However, he noted that efforts are underway to address these shortcomings, with NATO allies increasing their capacity to manufacture weapons and ammunition.
Despite initial delays and gaps in deliveries to Ukraine, Stoltenberg asserted that the situation is improving, with a notable increase in the flow of ammunition to Kiev in recent weeks. The Secretary General emphasized the urgency of bolstering support for Ukraine, particularly in light of Russia's recent advances in the Kharkov Region.
The acknowledgment of Russia's heightened production capabilities underscores the evolving dynamics of the conflict in Ukraine and the imperative for NATO to enhance its support for the besieged nation. As tensions continue to escalate, the international community faces mounting pressure to provide assistance to Ukraine while navigating the complexities of the geopolitical landscape.
