Kazakhstan, IMF Discuss Economic Prospects


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 29. Kazakhstan and theInternational Monetary Fund (IMF) have discussed economic prospectsfor the medium term, Trend reports.

The discussions took place during the IMF's annual consultationmission with the Kazakh authorities. The meeting was attended bythe Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan, Madi Takiyev, the head ofthe IMF mission for Kazakhstan, Nicolas Blanchet, his deputy,Alejandro Heidenberg, and other experts.

Thus, the parties reviewed the current implementation of the2024 budget of Kazakhstan, the main priorities of the Ministry ofFinance, including the preparation of budget and tax codes, and theimprovement of public procurement procedures.

The minister spoke in detail about the current economicsituation in Kazakhstan and the economic reforms being carried outby the government of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Finance noted thatKazakhstan highly values the strategic nature of its interactionwith the IMF and is confident in further mutually beneficialcooperation.

To note, the International Monetary Fund is a specialized UNagency established on December 27, 1945, to develop internationalcooperation in the monetary and financial sphere, work together oneconomic problems, lend and advise debtor countries, and collectand publish international financial statistics.

Kazakhstan has been a member of the IMF since 1992. During thistime, a number of mutually beneficial agreements have beenconcluded between our country and the Fund. The IMF missionannually visits Kazakhstan for consultations.
