Armenia Persists In Attempts To Disassociate Itself From Russia, Report Of US Institute Says


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. Armenia continuesits attempts to distance itself from Russia, the report of the USInstitute of Military Studies said, Trend reports.

Additionally, it is reported that the most striking example ofthis is the freezing of official Yerevan's activities within theCollective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

“It appears that Yerevan wants to distance itself from Moscowfrom a political and security perspective,” the report notes.

The report also mentions that official Moscow has begun toopenly threaten Armenia for this rhetoric.

“Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently stated thatArmenian PM Nikol Pashinyan is trying to drag the South Caucasusinto a geopolitical conflict. Lavrov emphasized that Pashinyan ison the wrong track,” the report reads.

To note, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov stated inan April 24 interview with Izvestia that the security threatsArmenia faces must be assessed.
