Amman, Oct. 24 (Petra)-National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) sent a legal memorandum to international bodies, highlighting the systematic and continuing violations of international law by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza Strip, in commitment to the center's role in protecting and promoting human rights.
In a statement on Tuesday, the NCHR said it sent the memo to United Nations Secretary-General, High Commissioner for Human Rights, United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) members, Prosecutor General of the International Criminal Court, President of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) , and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The NCHR added that the memo was also sent to Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Special Rapporteur for Middle East Peace, Deputy Secretary of the United Nations for Relief Affairs, and many ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom, and representatives of United Nations organizations in Jordan.
The memo featured legal documentation of Israeli crimes against Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, which amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, primarily killing civilians, genocide, displacement and demolition of homes and property, collective punishment, and other grave violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, the statement said.
In its memo, the NCHR called on these international bodies to take legal procedures and measures to ensure that the Israeli occupation is held accountable for its crimes, and fulfill their professional and moral responsibilities in immediately stopping aggression against Gaza Strip.
Additionally, the NCHR demanded opening humanitarian corridors to bring in medical and relief aid and ensure its continuation, and provide electricity, water, and fuel to Gaza.
